Customer Reviews

“Better than expected. I flip flopped between this and a normal grill and glad i got the infrared version. Its gets very hot almost too hot to do low heat cooking. I had it a few weeks now and happy with it. I am trying to adjust to the hot temps. It will heat up to 700+°F in just 10-15 mins. the three temp gauges are nice too. I need to buy a cover because the burners will rust…”

“Theres two type of grills you can own. A grill, and then a GRILL. This is a grilling machine. We have had it for about a little under a month now and with the weather getting better have been choosing to grill our foods rather than cook them on the stove or in the oven. The magic lies within TRU Infrared. It really DOES leave you with juicier meats and better looking food. In fact we pulled steaks off this grill that look as good as steak on television, which we all know that its hard to make home steak look as good as television steak. Not with this grill, you can have a television worthy steak in no time!…(read more here):

Pros & Cons

green-tick-button

Pros:

You can add a rotisserie. Infrared is great and meat is more tender than on a “normal” grill with the infrared cooking system of char broil. The 180 sq. inch grate is perfectly placed above the main grate and is great for vegetables. The infrared system works great and flare-ups are almost a total thing of the past with this grill. The 4 carter wheels are pretty good and it is easy that you can lock 2 of them.

Cons:

Assembly can be a little hard and a tip is to look ahead for the next steps to see if you have to do something first to make it easier.

The side panels are hard to install because of the limited room for your hands. The tray under the grill is not removable and that seems to make it hard to clean.

The 3 temperature gauges are not of the best quality and the reading is pretty much off. Propane only is a little con in my opinion, but if you know it you can live with it.

For the rest, there are not too many cons to be found about this infrared grill.

Summary of what I think about the Char Broil Performance T-34G4

With an average rating of 4.1, this grill seems to be pretty good.

I wish it had porcelain-coated cast-iron grates instead of porcelain-coated steel grates, but that is more of a personal preference. This grill is built for propane and cannot be converted to natural gas.

4 caster wheel including 2 that can be locked makes it easy to move this grill around on a patio or deck.

I have not seen many complaints about rust on this model and I know that Char broil has a little bit of a reputation for rust if not maintained well. Maybe because this is a newer model? Because it has the number 14 at the end of the model number, what according to the char broil help desk I contacted about this, stands for 2014.

As I always recommend it is best to buy a digital thermometer for any grill because most of the time the temperature gauges that come with grills are not accurate at all and are often placed in the wrong place and this grill is no exception to the rule. Readings of 700 degrees with one burner on are enough proof of that.

Take time to assemble this grill, because there are many complaints about the poor directions in the assembly manual. Maybe ask for some help also if you are not too good at following a manual.

One remark I found about a flare-up while the grill was in cleaning mode. However, after reading the whole section I think it was because of a lack of cleaning and therefore buildup of grease that caught fire.

Another good reason to use the self-clean setting after every use.

Recommended

A good and well-fitted cover is always our recommendation.
The Char-Broil 3585705 65-Inch Vinyl Black Grill Cover Full Length with an average 4.5 rating is highly recommended by us.

The rotisserie is a very nice addition to your char broil T35G4.

Tips

Get some help assembling if you are not too technical.
Clean it after every use, but watch it because it gets really hot.
Use a better thermometer than the ones installed, they don’t read accurately.
