Grill surface and temperature

This grill is pretty big at 240 square inches. That means you can cook a lot of food on it at the same time. Great for larger crowds or larger cuts of meat.
The temperature gets high enough since this grill is powered with a 1600 Watts element to heat it and keep it at the right temperature.

Cleaning

This is always a very important part of the reviews we do. Let’s be honest we all like to grill but cleaning up is no fun for most people. That is why it is important to have a grill that is easy to clean.

There are several ways people clean the grill parts and grill plates.
The first thing you have to do is remove the temperature controller because this cannot get wet of course.

Some people wipe the grill with a wet paper towel right after using it and this cleans it well.

Other people mention that they take the dome and the drip pan and put those in the dishwasher and soak the grill plate in the sink for a while before wiping it down.

One other method I found is to just run it through the dishwasher, but it is pretty big and others mentioned it did not fit in their dishwasher.

Overall cleaning the non-stick surface is not a big problem except when it got really badly burned on food on it then you have to use a little elbow grease.

Features of the George Foreman GRP144

Indoor and outdoor use makes this grill very versatile to use.

There is a temperature gauge in the lid for keeping your eye on the temperature but I could not find that many people use this feature too much.

Removable grill plates are in this case almost a must. Even if it was just for cleaning. They are easy to remove and with the large grill surface, they are heavy. The material is aluminum which is coated with a double layer of nonstick material.

An adjustable temperature feature means that you can set the temperature on the controller to higher or lower depending on your way of grilling. I found that most people keep it on high.

The grates are sloped towards the middle and then towards the drip pan. I found no problems with this. Just keep the hole open to prevent the grease from staying on the grill surface.

The removable pedestal is about 3.5 feet high and for most people that is a nice height for a grill. If you are a little taller than average like me you might find it a little low.

You can use this as a tabletop without the pedestal and this is maybe easier when you are taller.

The dome comes with an adjustable steam vent to regulate how much steam can escape from the grill. Very handy when you use a lot of marinated meat.
The dome can hang on a knob in the back of the grill to get it out of your way when you are flipping the meat.

There are 5 temperature settings on the controller but as I mentioned before, most people use this grill on the highest setting

The electric usage and the cost of that is something to look at also. With its 1600 Watts and an average price of 13 cents per Kilowatt, this grill will cost you about 20 cents per hour of use. Pretty cheap compared to propane and charcoal I think.

The cord is a little over 6 feet and can be plugged into a normal household outlet. If you need an extension cord make sure it can handle the wattage of this grill

Price of the George Foreman GGR50B

(Back to Top)The price comped to the quality and what you can do with this grill, like indoor and outdoor and the big grill surface is very reasonable and I think it can even be considered low.
