Grill surface and temperature

The two most important things to know about any grill and an indoor electric grill, in particular, are the effective grill surface and the temperature it will heat up to.

The Zojirushi EB-CC15 indoor electric grill review shows this is not the largest grill we have seen and reviewed, but with its total grill surface of about 115 square inches, it is still large enough for an average family to cook on.

The grill surface measures 12.5 x 9.25 inches and according to the manufacturer’s website, it is made out of layered titanium and ceramic material. Large enough to cook 4 steaks at the same time.

If you look at the general rule that you need 70 sq inches per person this grill is fairly small. But this rule only applies to cooking meals including meat and all vegetables.

Not many indoor electric grills will fit in this category. Most of us will only use it for meat or vegetables and not both at the same time.

The temperature controller can be used for temperatures between 176 and 410 degrees Fahrenheit and controls a 1300-watt heating element that is built into the grill plate for even heating. The controller can be plugged in after you have the drip pan installed. This is a safety feature.

Cleaning

The slotted grill plate makes it easy for drippings to fall into the drip pan. The grill part has handles to make it easy to remove. The base is light enough so it does not need any handles.

The grill top is not submersible in water, so it has to be cleaned by hand but this is very easy to do because of the non-stick surface. Make sure not to use any cleaning product that is aggressive and will damage the non-stick layer.

Greasing the grill surface with some oil or non-stick spray seems to make cleaning afterward even easier.

Dimensions

The total dimensions of this grill are: 20 3/4 x 14 x 6.1 inches
Grill surface 12.5 x 9.25 inches. This is a total of 115 square inches.

Features

The removable cord with the controller can only be plugged in when the drip pan is installed this is a safety feature to prevent the dripping to fall on your countertop.

The controller comes with 3 positions. High, Medium, Low, and off. I like the fact that it has a 3 prong plug this means that it is grounded and in my opinion safer to use.

The cord is what is called a magnetic type power cord and this is used to make it safe on the countertop.

If you by accident pull the cord it will disconnect and not just move the whole grill.

The grill plate can be easily removed with the attached handles for easy cleaning. The non-stick surface heats up very evenly and has no hot or cold spots.

The drip pan is dishwasher safe and also non-stick and easy to clean. You can also line it with aluminum foil for even easier cleaning.

preheating takes about 5 minutes and I advise letting the unit cycle on and off a few times to make sure that the heat is transferred to the grill surface.

The grill is very well-built and feels sturdy. It still is very light because of the used materials and the plastic base in particular.

The grill seems to cook meat pretty well and gives the option to create grill marks if heated up correctly. I know that an indoor electric grill is also very good for grilling vegetables.

A nice tip was to find an aluminum pan and use this as a cover while grilling meat. This makes the meat a little moister and reduces the grill time. Not having a cover was the most mentioned con of this Zojirushi EB-CC15.

This indoor grill is cULus listed. This means that it had been tested and is approved for the American and Canadian markets.
