Grill surface of the Kenyon Floridian

In my opinion, the grill grate of any grill is the most important part.

This is where you cook your meat and this can make a difference in great tasting food or an okay quality.

The grill grate of the Kenyon B70082 Floridian is covered with high-quality nonstick material and with the heating element attached right under it the performance is outstanding and it provided a very even heat distribution just like the other Kenyon grill reviews show us.
The grill area is 155 square inches and provides enough room to grill for multiple people and still is small enough for easy storage in a boat or RV.

With the used standard of 72 square inches per person for grilling including vegetables, you can use this Kenyon for 2 – 3 people.

If you however use it for meat only you can fit a lot more on the grill grates.

Features of this grill

  • concealed heating element
  • virtually smokeless

  • Stainless steel

Customer Reviews of the Kenyon b70082

“Moving to a condo necessitated some changes. Having to move to an electric grill from a gas almost was a deal breaker on buying a condo. The grill is expensive but I believe it is worth the price. I grill out at least 2 times a week. I also went to an electric from a wood smoker. I have cooked hamburgers, steak, wings, marinated chicken, and a middled eastern marinated chicken recipe with yogurt etc.
The hamburgers are just as good as the gas grill. The steak not quite as good but decent. Wings were just as good and even more tender. My marinated chicken recipe was just as good and also more tender. The middle eastern recipe was good but not as crisp on the outside as I would have liked. Instructions say to cook with cover down. I enjoy grill cooking with a spatula in one hand and a beer in the other. That”s why I like to keep the cover open if I can. The hamburger, steak, and wings I cook with the cover open. The marinated chicken recipes I cook with the cover closed….

“My wife and I have an all electric motorhome, meaning no propane on board. Consequently I didn’t really want to introduce propane into our equation and charcoal is too messy for everyday use when traveling so we researched electric grills and came up with the Kenyon. We’ve had it for about 4 months now and use it almost everyday when the weather is good enough to cook outdoors. It does everything and does it well. The grill heats quickly and evenly and we do everything from steaks to eggs on it with great success. I would highly recommend this grill and even though it’s quite expensive, this is, in our minds, a clear case of getting what you pay for….(read more here: Find more here)”

Kenyon B70082 Floridian electric grill – my opinion

With an overwhelming 88% of users giving it a rating of 5 stars and an overall rating of 4.8 and no one giving it a rating below 4, the Kenyon B70082 Floridian grill All Seasons Portable Stainless Steel Electric Grill seems to be catching a lot of hype.

I will list a few things about this grill so that you get an idea of the good and the bad of this portable electric grill.

It is a bit on the expensive side and this keeps coming up in all the reviews. I will have a look at all the features and benefits it offers so that you can decide if it is worth the price or not.

Someone mentioned however that in many cases you get what you pay for and I think this is the case here also.

The most common positive quality that kept coming across in almost every review is its ability to run completely on electricity.

So if you want to grill in places where either the use of coal and gas is banned or unsafe like on a boat or in an RV, this seems to be the perfect option for that. Just remember that you need a 120-volt outlet.

People who like to grill when they are out on a boat or in an RV find this feature of the Kenyon B70082 Floridian Electric Grill very useful as they do not have to store a secondary fuel supply of propane or coal. I even read someone call it an electric boat grill.

I found a video and in there they explain it better than I can.

The fact that it does not use traditional fuels for grilling such as coal or propane doesn’t mean it is a slouch when it comes to the actual grilling. In fact, it improves upon these fuel options.

It can heat up to 600 degrees Fahrenheit in just 10 minutes. This is a very useful feature as not only can you cook faster, you save on electricity as well.

It achieves this quick heating by placing the 1300-watt heating element in direct contact with the grilling surface. This design ensures that not only can you grill faster, but also evenly.

Another great feature of the Kenyon B70082 Floridian that its users find particularly useful is its build quality. People have set this up on seagoing boats where it is not only exposed to the salty environment, but it also gets a constant shower by the waves.

Most metallic objects under such an environment would corrode very easily and either rust away or start looking really old in just a few weeks.

The Kenyon B70082 Floridian is made up of really high-quality stainless steel and this allows it to take a beating from the salty waves and still stay rust-free while looking as good as new.

I did notice that before trying this grill many people were concerned that the electric grilling might affect the taste of the grilled food items but once they used it they found out that not only is the taste as good as any traditional grill, you do not have to deal with the mess that usually accompanies the more traditional grill like charcoal.

The fuel is electricity which means there is no soot or smoke that you have to deal with during cleanup.

Now I will look at how it cooks specific food items. Things like hamburgers cook really well and you won’t be able to tell the difference between one cooked on a traditional grill and one cooked on the Kenyon B70082 Floridian.

Steaks though are a different story. By no means do they taste bad when cooked on the Kenyon B70082 Floridian, it just doesn’t exactly give you the smoky flavor you would get from coal or gas grills.

Having said that this is a healthier way to grill the steak.

Chicken wings actually taste better on this electric grill. They are more tender and soft and retain their succulence quite well. Veggies and seafood can be grilled easily as well.

I did find some people who were worried about safety and shock hazard and if a standard 110-volt power supply would be able to supply enough electricity to power this grill.

I am glad to tell you that Kenyon has ensured that it can work out of most standard power outlets. It comes with an inbuilt GFCI or a ground fault circuit interrupter which will ensure that you do not get an electric shock making it a pretty safe grill.

Another area where this grill excels is in its ability to be cleaned up very easily. Unlike traditional grills which involved a lot of work to get cleaned up after a grilling session, all the Kenyon B70082 Floridian needs is a few wipes using a wet paper towel.

Keep in mind though that you have to do this immediately after the grill has cooled down or you might have to put in more of an effort to clean. Having said that, it would still be less troublesome than a traditional grill. Add to that the benefit of having the grill grate and the lid designed to be dishwasher friendly so that a thorough washing is just as easy and effortless.

That brings us to the only negative comment that kept popping up about the Kenyon B70082 Floridian which is its price.

So I had a look into it and can confirm that it is more pricey than most electric grills but it does justify its high price.

It is versatile. It can be used both indoors and outdoors and actually, has a safety certification from UL which is an independent safety consulting and regulating organization.

It is highly energy-efficient which means that you will save a lot in the long run because it will consume less energy compared to most electric grills and a lot less energy compared to a traditional coal or gas grill. It is safer too.

It comes with a few safety features that will ensure that you do not get an electric shock while this grill is in operation. Also, the elimination of smoke is a plus point on the health side.

The build quality is excellent and the materials used are top-notch ensuring that this grill will last for a long time and it will be quite a while before you will need to buy a replacement.

This is a 1300 watt grill which means that it will cost only about 15.6 cents on average for every hour you operate it. This is very reasonable and the energy savings in the long term will pay for the high initial cost of this grill.

It looks very attractive too. The temperature is controlled using a touch-sensitive panel.

As with most grills, getting to grips with the correct heat setting will take some time. The Kenyon B70082 Floridian being highly energy-efficient can grill to the same level at a lower heat setting and that is something you will get accustomed to with the regular use of this grill.

The accompanying manual is a good source of reference in this regard. The build quality feels sturdy and of high quality and all of these features combine to ensure that it justifies its high price very well.

So if you stay in a condo or are looking for a grilling option for your motor home or boat, the Kenyon B70082 Floridian is a very worthy contender.

Your initial investment will be high but you will save a lot over the many years. It will grill steaks, chicken, seafood, veggies, hamburgers, and a lot more and ensure that you get the perfect taste without any health hazards. It has got the seal of approval from almost everyone who has used this and it gets mine as well.

I am not going to say that this is the best electric BBQ grill ever, but the Kenyon B70082 Floridian is a grill we can highly recommend and it is in my opinion worth every penny you pay for it.
